Nothing stays the same -- especially in LA.

The town I grew up in the 1960's was straight out of a Beach Boy Song -- fast cars, kids hanging out at the beach -- "if everybody had an ocean"

The 70's was totally laid back -- totally. Welcome to The Hotel California.

The 80's was punk downtown and Michael Jackson everywhere else. "I Love LA" was the theme song for the '84 Olympics long before the Lakers and the Dodgers started cranking it up after every win.

The 90's -- for me it's all about "Beverly Hills, 90210", but Rodney King and OJ were definitely part of the mix.

The Millennium Years -- best part was watching my three kids grow into loving and fun and interesting people; worst part was just about everything else -- 9/11; Cheney; Katrina, and finally our scary economic meltdown right in time to subvert the change we dared to believe in.

2010 --

Everyone in Hollywood can sense we are living in transformational times. We've seen the impact of technology for yay or nay on the music business. What's not clear is what will be for TV, and movies, and everything else. Everyone in town is talking about business models and multiple platforms; revenue streams and roi's. What they are not talking about is you. Why? Because, well, don't take this the wrong way, but they don't really care about you all that much because, after all, you are only their audience. Sure, they would like you to watch their shows and buy their products and become Facebook friends,  but  when it comes to providing a context or building a viable community, or providing career opportunities, it always seems to be on their terms, doesn't it?

In contrast, showbizzle, the web series and digital showcase for emerging talent, I created with daughter Lindsey, began by asking our members to "tell us your story" in a short video done in the conversational/confessional  tone of our web series

Now, in addition to asking "heard any good stories lately?", we are asking what can we do for you? Meet some great casting directors? Be given some cool original material to perform? Be the person who writes the original material for others to perform? Get paid. Win contests? Get member discounts to some of our favorite places in LA?

Part of our mission at the 'bizzle' is to put some fun back in the business -- so we hope you will take us up on our offer to become a member
