Not to dwell on memories that totally suck, but one year ago this month showbizzle, the web series about being in your 20's trying to jumpstart a career in Hollywood that I created with daughter Lindsey, was supposed to launch. But between a host of digi nightmares on our first destination website, the unraveling of the economy, and a country engaged in a historic presidential election, by the time we were able to get up and running , we were DOA.
Humbled, but not broken, the bizzle has spent the past year working to upgrade our video content, improve our site's functionality and video display system by introducing multiple channels, and think about how to build a user-friendly community around our content.
This past June we "re-launched" with a weekly show that is almost through its initial run; we reached out to find a host for our new SoVeryLA channel which will debut in November/December and provide discounts from local merchants to our members. We are also holding auditions for new showbizzle characters -- check it out here.
The truth is we started showbizzle to "put some fun back in the business" -- and the mission hasn't changed. We want to make Hollywood a user-friendly place with a performance space away "from the immediate pressures of the marketplace" -- a place to be discovered, a place to feel part of a community, a place to watch some really talented young actors and writers do their thang.
Please know how much we appreciate your support, your talents, and your point of view. So sent us an e-mail and tell us what you'd like the bizzle to do for you. In the meantime, become a member. Tell a friend. Get empowered...because every career has to start somewhere...
And for everyone who wanted Brandon and Brenda to be their bff's (with benefits?) you might like to take a look at the interview I did about Beverly Hills, 90210 @ 90210 Interview
